I'd have to agree with Ryle here in 2013 as well. Join us in prayer that we would experience Samaritan Woman type conversions at The Journey this Sunday. If you missed last week, below is a link to last weeks message to prepare your heart.

Here are some Journey Group opportunities. We invite you to come willing to invest in others for the sake of the gospel and it's proclamation.

Worship this weekend at The Journey Church of Marietta!

The Scripture for this Sunday deserves special attention from devout Bible readers. These passages contain the last testimony of John the Baptist. Ministry fame often corrupts and inflates the egos of once faithful communicators, but it is NOT so with this man. The way to true honor is to be humble. No man was talked up more by Jesus than the man who spoke, "I must decrease."

This Sunday we're discussing what is perhaps the most mentioned scripture in the history of Christianity, no big deal. Some argue that there has been more written over John's Gospel than any other book of the Bible, and with content we see in chapter 3 it's no wonder.

John by no means presents an exhaustive list of all the miracles that Jesus accomplished during his earthly ministry. We see in the Synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) that many more miracles are recorded. However, John reveals the purpose and strategy behind his Gospel in John 20:30-31.

What’s in a name? In the Bible the Holy Spirit often reveals an attribute or role of a person through names. In addition to “Jesus”, John 1 uses at least 19 different names for Jesus. Each of these names reflects an important and particular characteristic of Jesus that the Holy Spirit through John wants us to know. John introduces Jesus to us and reveals who He is before he presents the rest of the gospel.

The importance of "light" through out the Old and New Testaments can hardly be overemphasized. Early on we see God created light and called it good (Gen. 1:3). This theme of light being good and being distinguished from darkness in stark contrast, such as in the book of Job when God is addressed as "the light" (Job 24:12-13) and “The Lord is my light and my salvation;” (Ps 27:1). “O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord.” (Is 2:5)
