Gospel
The ultimate goal of Journey Kids is to provide a safe, fun, and educational experience that is centered on the Gospel. Our hope is that each Sunday morning our children will be loved, encouraged, and challenged by leaders and volunteers in a way that will develop a foundation of God-honoring Christian faith and practice. Journey Kids is designed to supplement the discipleship that your child is already receiving in your home by utilizing classrooms and lessons that are tailored to their particular age group.
Family
We believe that church life at The Journey should be built around worshipping together, as much as possible, as a family. Therefore, our service is designed to provide children with the opportunity to sing, pray, and read scripture with their family members weekly in the main service, before being dismissed to attend Journey Kids for an age-appropriate lesson. Of course, your child is also more than welcome to remain in the service with you.
Friends
Growing up as a Christian can sometimes be a lonely experience if not done in community with other believers. We want our children to grow up amongst Christian friends and families that they can lean on for support and encouragement. Journey Kids is a healthy place where friendships can be made and last a lifetime.
What to do when you get there
Check-in
Upon arrival at The Journey, you will be greeted at the Children’s check-in table. There you will check your child into Journey Kids. If you are new or visiting for the first time, then you will be asked to provide pertinent registration information for your child. Parents of infants in the nursery will also be provided with a pager so that they can be alerted to a need during the service. This entire check-in system, helps us to ensure the safety of all of the children while they are in the care of our volunteers.
Worship
Once your child has been checked in or registered, feel free to visit the info table for more information on The Journey, grab some coffee in the foyer, or fellowship with friends before taking your children into the auditorium with you. If you have an infant in the nursery, they can be dropped off with our nursery helpers before you head into the auditorium. In our main service, the children worship with us as a church family before being dismissed to the proper class(es).
Classes
At The Journey, we offer Nursery, PreK-1st, and 2nd-4th. Children grade 5 and up attend the main service.
Our Hope For Journey Kids
The purpose of Journey Kids is to assist parents in connecting children to the Gospel, their Family, and their Friends. At The Journey, we believe that children are valuable gifts from God. God calls His church both to teach children and defend them from evil and danger. We believe that children, just like adults, need Jesus’ saving love. Only Jesus can change kids, families, neighborhoods, and schools.
At The Journey, we also believe that the home is the front line of ministry to children. The responsibility for a child’s spiritual formation rests primarily in the hands of his or her parents. We want to simply walk beside you as you train your children in godliness—providing the best help and resources that we can.
We have fun while we learn about Jesus and relate the truth of the Bible to the world in which your kids live. We accomplish this through age-appropriate teaching that shows Jesus to your child in a way that he or she can understand.
