We don't want the story of The Gospel to be the hidden agenda of The Journey, but rather the blatantly explicit one. I would argue that this Gospel-focused agenda, though it's necessary, is a hard mindset to maintain. So many distractions exist within church cultures. We see Gospel centrality as a crucial hope for The Journey Church of Marietta.

This hope is a two-for-one special. To put it simply, we hope The Journey is a place where people can learn about who Jesus is and what He has done. We also hope this church plant can be a place where people can pick back up on something they may have left in the past.

Isn't this ridiculously important for a church to believe? Without this component we're left to speculate, guess, or pick-and-choose what we believe about God and who He really is. In other words, without Scripture we make the rules and boundaries in which God exists. If we behave with this assumed authority then we may as well admit we're our own god. That or go ahead and carve an idol out of a piece of wood just the way you want and like it, right?

We have specific hopes at The Journey as we honor the Great Commission and Commandment of Jesus. These 4 hopes (though they're certainly not the only hopes) have been in our thoughts during our launch phase and are what we long to see as we pre-launch this church.

I'm so thankful for brothers and sisters in Christ who continue to respond to God's love with a commitment to aiding ministry. Just as in the days of Nehemiah, people still say "... we will not neglect the house of our God" (Nehemiah 10:39).

To be honest, it's really nice to know that so many people know about the plant and care to ask! This post is to help me communicate to my family and friends new & old as to where we are at in this life changing process.

The Journey Church won't be everything for everybody. However, if we want to disciple our children well, then we MUST disciple our adults well. We're not going to take the 'evangelistic' approach to grow this church to see how many seats we can fill and people we can get in the door. We want to make disciples of Christ which will naturally result in authentic evangelism.

Through prayer and research, we feel like we have found an AMAZING resource to help us accomplish this ministry! The Gospel Project is an incredibly gospel centered curriculum and is a perfect fit for our style of ministry.

As of this April, The Journey Church of Marietta is an official candidate church of Acts 29!

We believers are the church! Countless church bodies across the globe meet regularly without any one location being labeled their home. There is something freeing and fascinating about that notion to me. This concept is foreign to me since I've never existed in a body of Christ without a structural home. However, it shouldn't seem strange at all having read countless examples of this in scripture.
