I'm particularly excited to be continuing in our series over Revelation this Sunday. We're in the midst of a magnificent heavenly scene with the Father on the throne with a scroll containing mankind's destiny, surrounded by the Holy Spirit (chapters 4-5). This Sunday we get to study a breathtaking moment with MONUMENTAL meaning to the Christian faith. Jesus is about to take the scroll from the hand of the Father!
The truths that we'll discuss may at first glance make us uncomfortable but once embraced give us a peace that surpasses our own understanding. In my humble opinion, this is one of the best moments in this book! I can't wait to preach on it!
Questions we'll discuss in this sermon:
1. How can God write the destiny of man's redemption & judgement on a scroll before it happens?
2. What is the doctrine of divine providence?
3. If God truly governs all things how can I truly have free will?
4. What is Open Theism?
5. What does it mean that Jesus is the lion and the lamb?
6. Why does the Father allow Jesus to take the scroll?
7. What does it mean that Jesus has this scroll?
This passage holds the answers to so many important questions. Let us pray for God's blessing as we pursue His truth in His word. Join us in this pursuit Sunday morning at 9:45am!
