As mentioned last week, we just read about 2 miracles back-to-back in John 6:1-21 which means we're about ready to be taught something of great significance. The passage we studied last Sunday had Christ confronting the Jew's misunderstanding of his messiahship. The Jews were trying to force Jesus to make his prophesied kingship something it was never meant to be (John 6:15).
However, you can't domesticate God. Christ, in His perfect obedience, boldly corrects their corrupt notions in a collection of hard sayings that will mentally stretch us beyond that which we are capable of comprehending. Nonetheless, these truths of the 'bread of life' are to be clung to and offer fantastic assurance for all sons and daughters of the living God!
