Homepage Quicklink - John Spring   We're on to a NEW chapter in John's Gospel this Sunday.  However, this chapter comes with a bit of a twist, that being John 7:53-8:11 may or may not have been written by John and part of the original text.  Disputes over this passage aren't anything new but leave us trying to decide if it belongs in this gospel or not.

Regardless, we're going to study this frequently referenced and well-known story of Jesus and the adulterous woman.

Does this passage belong in John? Why or why not?

Does this passage show a Jesus that permits adultery?

Does Jesus disagree with Old Testament Law and the stoning of an adulterous woman?

What was Jesus writing in the sand?

Where was the man she committed adultery with and why wasn't he mentioned?

Were the Pharisees themselves guilty of adultery?
