Journey to The Journey

Recently my pursuit of resources on eschatology has admittedly become a bit of an obsession, ha!  I've become fascinated with the different positions that Christians can take in this arena.  With that said, I've committed to sharing these eschatological discussions with you in preparation for our upcoming series over the book of Revelation.

I realize that not everybody is a book worm and that's fine but don't let that cripple/excuse your pursuit of biblical knowledge here in the year 2013.  These 2 resources below are audio and video!

Last Days According to Jesus1.  The Last Days According to Jesus, by R.C. Sproul

This is a 12 part video lecture series that breaks this discussion down into 25-30 minute chunks.  To my surprise, Sproul doesn't use these lectures to try and sell you on the positions that he takes but rather guides you through a general survey of the topic.  This is another great resource to dip your toe into eschatology.

Last Days Accroding to Jesus BookYou could buy this lecture series for $20 OR just simply go to his ministry's website and take a look for FREE (Click Here).  The lecture series is based off of his book which you can also check out.

Here's the lineup of lectures:

2.  Understanding the Parousia
3.  A Question of Time
4.  Literal or Figurative

David Platt2.  Revelation: The Hope of Glory, by David Platt

In Revelation: The Hope of Glory, Platt surveys the entire book of Revelation in just 13 weeks.  I love this guy but if there was one thing I could say it him it would be to slow down, what's the rush!? Ha!

However, one of my favorite things about the way he taught this series was his emphasis on what the text meant to 1st century Christians.  He made it a point to stay away from a "newspaper exegesis" style that ultimately distracts people from the point of this book.

Here's an overview of his teaching series: (Click Here to listen!)

1.  The Revelation of Jesus Christ
2.  The Indescribable Christ and His Indestructible Church
3.  Words from Christ to a Church at War
4.  The Glory of a Triune God
5.  Silence in Judgement Amid Shouts of Mercy
6.  The Life of the Christian and the Coming of the Kingdom
7.  Fighting from (not for) Victory
8.  How Do We Worship God in His Wrath
9.  The Danger of Worldly Desires 10.  The Hallelujah Chorus
11.  What Ultimately Matters Regarding the Millennium

13.  The End of the Beginning

I pray that these resources are a blessing to you!
