The following are an assortment of comments I've heard from individuals concerning our upcoming series over the book of Revelation.  I've typically gotten 3 different reactions:

Reaction #1
"Wow! I'm so pumped you're teaching through Revelation because I know absolutely NOTHING about it."

Reaction #2
"Why in the world are you teaching through Revelation?  Are you trying to divide your church?"

Reaction #3
"Here's what I believe about the book of Revelation (insert stance here).  If you're not teaching this position you need to read more."

Each of these reactions end up being reasons why pastors don't want to preach through this book of the Bible.  Reaction #1 is initially encouraging but then you begin to feel to weight of responsibility.  How am I going to begin to teach this book of the Bible to someone who has no prior knowledge of it?  Reaction #2 comes from people who either want to treat their congregates like they're dumb (they won't understand so don't even try) or they regard end-time scenarios as primary doctrinal issues.  How can a pastor push people deep into this book without it feeling like a seminary lecture?  Reaction #3 usually comes from people who have done at least some research on Revelation, they've determined where they stand on certain issues and they're ready to defend what they believe.  No matter what position a pastor takes on certain end-time issues there is guaranteed to be good bible-believing Christians ready to disagree with him.  How can a pastor preach through this book and avoid the debates?

Revelation Quicklink     Everybody wants to know what the deal is with Revelation but few take the time to examine it from different angles.  Everybody wants to talk about Revelation but be careful, if you talk about it too much you'll be labeled a nut.  Many say it is the most requested book of the Bible to be preached but the least preached on from the pulpit.  Despite all of the preconceived ideas on this book, the various interpretive avenues Christians debate over and the mysteries of some of it's content I believe this is TOTALLY worth our while.

I believe that there is important instruction, ridiculously valuable warnings and magnificent hope laying in the pages of this book that are often overlooked by efforts to predict Christ's second advent and the end of time.  I pray that this would be a time for our church to cling to truth about who Jesus is and what He will do, a time to reflect on how we live our lives in light of this truth and a time to rest in the hope that we have in spending eternity with Him.  Yes, we'll inevitably talk about the various interpretations of Revelation (I love that stuff) but may it NEVER be done at the expense of it's abundant hope as well as preached to His glory alone.

Below is a rough glance at where we're headed over the next 9 months.  Please advise that my preaching schedules almost never end up as they were planned.  Some content may get divided into more sermons and some condensed.

This book touches every book in the Bible and is very timely when you look at the situation today here and in the mid east, the Harbinger, the Four Blood Moons of 2014 and 2015. WOW. Great time to bring everything into focus of where we are and where we are going! Time frame unknown, but the season is in your face! Wonderful choice! Blessings. Don
