Join us Sunday morning as we continue through one of the most talked about books in human history, Revelation.  We're currently studying 7 letters from Jesus to 7 literal churches that existed in what is now modern day Turkey.  In these letters Jesus commends each church for what they are doing well, encourages them to persevere in the midst of tribulation and rebukes them for the inappropriate behavior of their own people.

These letters are a chance for us to look in the mirror as a church.  We should aspire to that which the churches are commended for, hold fast to the ways in which they are encouraged and search ourselves as we examine each rebuke.  The bottom line is that we want a church that pleases Jesus.  Rather than be a church that is pronounced "dead" as in Sardis for neglecting the ways of God, may we be diligent to pursue holiness and sound doctrine to the glory of King Jesus.

Revelation QuicklinkQuestions we will discuss in this Sunday's sermon:

1.  What is the key of David?

2.  What is the "hour of trial" that Jesus will keep us from?

3.  Why is it that Christ will have a new name?

In reference to the letter to the church at Philadelphia Cornelis Venema writes:  "The message of this letter to the contemporary church is startlingly clear. No message could be more relevant to an evangelical church in danger of losing faith in the ancient gospel and its power to transform sinners after the image of Jesus Christ."
